The Tycho Crater is a crater on the Moon having the diameter of 85 km (53 miles). It is too small to recognize using the naked eye. However, it lies on a bright colored highland that can be mistaken as the crater itself. The crater also has an extensive ray system, which was from the ejected materials when the crater was formed. The lunar crater Tycho is named in his honour, as is the crater Tycho Brahe on Mars and the minor planet 1677 Tycho Brahe in the asteroid belt.

It's Tycho time! The Moon waxes to full on March 1st and its most famous crater, Tycho, is favorably tipped into view That’s the crater Tycho, arguably the most famous on the Moon. First, it’s pretty easy to spot near Full Moon with just binoculars; plumes of material that splashed out when the crater formed ティコ (Tycho) は、月面の南部に位置するクレーターである。非常に大きく(直径85キロ)、目立つので、双眼鏡程度でも見ることができる。デンマークの天文学者・ティコ・ブラーエにちなんで命名された。 The formation of the Tycho crater on the Moon 109 Myr ago may have ejected substantial amounts of lunar debris into Earth crossing orbits. Artemieva and Shuvalov (2008) envision that Earth was covered by meteorites from the Tycho crater with a mean density of 0.1–0.3 kg per m 2.

Tycho Crater's Peak On June 10, 2011, NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter spacecraft angled its orbit 65° to the west, allowing the LRO Camera NACs to capture a dramatic sunrise view of Tycho crater. A very popular target with amateur astronomers, Tycho is located at 43.37°S, 348.68°E, and is about 51 miles (82 km) in diameter. Geology. Tycho Crater is the youngest large impact crater on the Moon's nearside.

TMA-1 is fashioned to the exact proportions of 1:4:9, and is dated to about four million years old. Its artificial construction suggests that it was left behind by “monolith aliens”. The concept was Tycho (/ ˈ t aɪ k oʊ /) is a prominent lunar impact crater located in the southern lunar highlands, named after the Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe (1546–1601). It is estimated to be 108 million years old.

Tycho crater

It appears as a bright spot in the southern highlands with rays of bright material that stretch across much of the nearside. Tycho's prominence is not due to its size. At 53 miles (85 kilometers) in diameter, it is just one among thousands similary-sized craters. Tycho, conspicuous impact crater lying at the centre of the most extensive system of bright rays on the near side of the Moon. The rays, which are light-coloured streaks formed of material ejected from the impact, dominate the southern highlands and extend for more than 2,600 km (1,600 miles) Basic Facts About Lunar Crater Tycho Coordinates 43.31°S 11.36°W Diameter 86 km (53.4 miles) Depth 4.8 km (2.98 miles) Colongitude 12° at sunrise Eponym Tycho Brahe Tycho i fiktion.

Tycho crater is one of the most visible and important craters on the Moon due to its extensive, bright ray system. It appears in early geological maps of the Moon, for example in the map of the lunar nearside by Wilhelms and McCauley (1971), as well as a more detailed map of the Tycho area by Pohn. Tycho is a relatively young crater near the southern pole, the center and source of the Moon's huge southern white streaks visible from Earth.

The crater Tycho on the Moon, surrounded by the heavily bombarded topography characteristic of the southern highlands, in a photo taken by the U.S. Lunar Orbiter 4, 1967. Tycho, located at 43° S, 11° W, in the highlands south of the Nubium Basin (Mare Nubium) impact structure, measures 85 km (53 miles) in diameter and about 4 km (2.5 miles) deep.

Tycho is grand. It is the most conspicuous crater visible near full Moon, shining brilliantly, surrounded by a dark ring, and radiating great long rays. The Tycho crater is about 51 miles (82 km) across and approximately 15,000 feet (4,572 meters) deep. That’s almost three miles (4.82 km) deep, three times the depth of the Grand Canyon.
